gpslogger info gpslogger is a lightweight android app that sends your location to our system at regular intervals setup takes about 3 minutes once configured, the app runs quietly in the background — you won't need to touch it again section 1 — install the app gpslogger is not available on google play install it from one of these two sources option a — f droid (recommended, no account needed) open https //f droid org/packages/com mendhak gpslogger https //f droid org/packages/com mendhak gpslogger on your phone and tap install option b — direct apk open https //github com/mendhak/gpslogger/releases https //github com/mendhak/gpslogger/releases on your phone, tap the latest apk file and install it you may need to allow installation from unknown sources in your android settings after installing, open the app and grant all location permissions when prompted — including "allow all the time" (background location) this is required for the app to work when your screen is off disable battery optimization for gpslogger go to android settings → apps → gpslogger → battery → select unrestricted without this, some phones will stop the app from logging configure the tracking url this is where you paste the link we provided you with open gpslogger tap the ≡ menu (top left) → auto send, email and upload tap custom url enable the toggle log to custom url in the url field, paste the link provided by us make sure the method is set to get — this is the default, do not change it tap the back arrow to save if your phone goes offline location points are queued automatically and sent to our system once you're back online no data is lost configure logging settings tap the ≡ menu → logging details set log interval to 3 minutes (180 seconds) if you set lower interval, our system will ignore the intemittent logs leave distance filter at 0 meters — this ensures every location point is recorded regardless of how far you've moved make sure log passive locations is enabled — this allows the app to also capture location updates triggered by system or other apps on your phone, which helps fill gaps enable app start on bootup & enable automatic logging so that tracking resumes automatically after a phone restart, enable this option once tap the ≡ menu → general options enable start on bootup — gpslogger will launch automatically after a phone restart enable start logging on app launch — logging will begin immediately every time the app opens, without needing to tap start from now on, gpslogger will start itself automatically whenever your phone restarts you won't need to do anything after a reboot start first logging on the main screen, tap the large start button the green indicator confirms the app is running the app will now send your location to our system every 3 minutes you can lock your screen — it continues running in the background the 3 minute interval is a target, not a guarantee — android's gps system treats it as a suggestion, so occasional short gaps are normal if the app stops logging for extended periods, double check that battery optimization is disabled (see section 1)
